The Skae Dossier

Historical event · The Chroma Pilgrimage

Back to world

The classified Bureau report proving Aura's song is measurably fading — the document the Synod buried, the Choir weaponized, and the Schism was fought over. Its author, analyst Veylin Skae, vanished after submitting it.

The Skae Dossier

The single document that ignited the Silence Schism.

Contents

Compiled by Bureau analyst Veylin Skae over eleven years of classified frequency-monitoring data, the Dossier is a rigorous, devastating proof that Aura's psionic output is declining. Its key findings:

  1. Frequency Attrition — each spire the Synod cuts permanently removes its resonant frequency from the Chroma. No new spires are growing to replace them. The spectrum is narrowing.
  2. The Threshold — FTL navigation requires a minimum Chroma bandwidth to function. Skae calculated that at current extraction rates, the bandwidth would fall below this threshold within 218 years. After that, every FTL drive in the Empire goes dark simultaneously.
  3. The Call Hypothesis — Skae's most controversial section. Analysis of the remaining frequencies suggests a pattern in Aura's song — not random resonance but structured, repeating modulations consistent with an attempt at communication. Skae concluded: "The moon is calling. Not for worship. For help."

Aftermath

The Dossier was classified Midnight Clearance within hours of submission. Veylin Skae was reassigned to a remote monitoring station and has not been seen since. The Synod officially maintains the Dossier is a fabrication. The Dissonant Choir has distributed copies so widely that suppression is now impossible. The Resonant Order quietly confirms Skae's frequency data matches their own independent measurements.

Every faction's stance on the Dossier defines their position in the Schism: if the song is dying, then the Synod's golden age is a countdown.
