The Sunken Spire's Heart

Landmark · The Duskward Kingdom

Back to world

Once the nexus of the kingdom's spell-network, this half-buried clockwork tower still hums with failing enchantments and contains the oldest records of Duskward's founding—rumored to hold the answer to why the kingdom collapsed.

The Sunken Spire is the kingdom's most recognizable ruin: a towering structure of pale stone and brass gears, half-swallowed by centuries of overgrowth and buried beneath layers of forest and stone. Its mechanisms still turn, though erratically—some gears chiming in wrong intervals, others grinding in reverse, all of it producing a haunting, off-key symphony that changes with the seasons.

Deep beneath its main chamber lies the Archive, said to hold the kingdom's oldest records and the original spell-schematics. Treasure-seekers, scholars, and ambitious faction agents constantly probe its depths, battling both the tower's defense-mechanisms (many now malfunctioning in dangerous ways) and each other.

The Rust Wardens believe the Spire's failure triggered the Unravelling. The Council wants to seize the Archive before anyone else can. The Cartels employ teams of specialists to raid it. The Threadbare Collective sells maps to its forgotten levels.

Getting in is treacherous. Getting out with anything of value is legendary.
